I have been wanting to make dice for D&D ever since I started playing the game. I knew people collected dice, but I had so many ideas for dice that I wanted to just make them myself. Finally I can, but boy howdy, it is time intensive and very costly!
Frequently asked questions
Price
"Why do you charge so much for a set of dice?"
A reasonable question for anyone unfamiliar with collecting dice, I didn't know either! Turns out, making dice is insanely expensive. The materials alone are very costly (the resin, the molds, compressor, vacuum chamber, and the inclusions), and between pouring, mixing, curing, sanding, and painting it takes a lot of time. We're talking 24-32 hours a set of dice! That means that they are high quality though, and one of a kind! No one else will have a set like it!
In the future, I plan to make more intricate dice, but I'll always try to keep making some of the simpler ones so I can keep a wider price range.
Appearance
"Why aren't the numbers painted in on this set but they are on that one?"
Aesthetic! I liked the way the die looked without the paint. The paint can be finnicky too at times, and I feel it suites certain colors better than others. I personally really don't like dice with painted numbers, but if I feel they are too hard to see I will relent and paint the numbers.
"Is this clay inclusion going to weigh my dice?"
Nope!
